Five County Association of Governments
Emergency Food Network (EFN) funding through the Utah Department of Workforce Services – Housing and Community Development increased the capacity of rural pantries in Beaver, Milford, Panguitch, Escalante, Big Water, Long Valley (Orderville), and Kanab helping low-income and homeless communities in rural areas avert hunger and find resources to move towards self-sufficiency.
EFN funding comprised approximately 9.75% of the budget for these pantries and is directly responsible for helping 67 households / 154 individual receive 481 food boxes. The average cost per household was $140.68. The service cost per food box is $19.55. The total poundage distributed as a result of capacity-building projects is 37,345.77 lbs. of food.
